Florida softball 2020 preview

Last season the Florida Gators finished with a record of 49-18 and made it to the WCWS. A big portion of their success could be accrediated to ace pitcher Kelly Barnhill who went 34-14 with a 1.61ERA along with 358 strikeouts. Another big part of the team’s success came from the play of Amanda Lorenz who was an offensive juggernaut hitting for a .422 average with 11 homeruns and 41RBIs.

All is not lost though for longtime head coach Tim Walton as he has a good core of returning players that should be able to keep the Gators ship sailing along smoothly on the winning way river.

Those veteran players returning include seniors, Jade Caraway, Jordan Roberts, Kendyl Lindaman, Katie Chronister, Jaimie Hoover and Sophia Reynoso along with juniors, Hannah Adams, Natalie Lugo and Jordan Matthews. Lindaman swings a big bat with 15 homeruns and 54 RBI’s last season while Jordan Roberts mananged to hit 9 homeruns and have 36RBIs.

Florida also has a big group of incoming freshmen for this season including, E.C. Taylor OF, Julia Cottrill C, Rylee Triicek LHP,Baylee Goddard UT and Sarah Longley INF.

With Florida’s lineup that’s a mix of veterans and fresh faces it should make for an entertaining season. If any of their younger players catch fire who knows what might happen with the Gators season come tournament time.
