Georgia Softball Shut Out Gardner-Webb 6-0
Georgia blanked Gardner-Webb behind Britton Rogers’ one-hitter, 6-0.
Georgia sophomore right-hander Britton Rogers came up just short of throwing a perfect-game at Jack Turner Stadium Wednesday.
Rogers (4-0) struck out a career-best 11 hitters with no walks and took a perfect game into the seventh inning before losing it on a one-out single to center.

On her 11-strikeout performance and what was working for her tonight…
“Tonight, I feel like I really attacked the zone. I started early and often, pounding with my screwball and my curveball, setting up the side-to-side pitches. Just doing what I do.”
On her takeaways from the night and how that will translate into the weekend…
“Tonight was something that I’ve been wanting to do, starting early and often with the strikes. That’s my game plan from now on. I’m going to take that into this weekend. Pounding early and just getting in the attack mode against the hitters.”
Up next, the Bulldogs will host Bryant and North Carolina in the Georgia Classic this weekend at Jack Turner Stadium. The six-game tournament begins Friday. Admission to all games is free.
