SEC Softball Players of the Week
SEC Player of the Week – Kentucky’s Erin Coffel, a sophomore shortstop from Bremen, Ind., hit .692 on the weekend as Kentucky went 5-0 at the 2022 Hillenbrand Invitational. Coffel had nine hits, including two doubles and a home run, along with nine RBI and two walks. She went 3-for-4 with a run scored in UK’s upset win over No. 11 Arizona on its home field, while also stealing a career-high two bases in the game.
SEC Pitcher of the Week – Alabama’s Montana Fouts, a senior right-hander from Grayson, Ky., was named to the Bama Bash All-Tournament Team after posting two wins and a save for the Crimson Tide. Fouts threw a complete-game shutout against No. 8 Virginia Tech, holding the Hokies to just three hits while fanning 11 batters. For the tournament, she struck out 24 batters in 13.1 innings pitched and held her opponents to a .130 batting average.
SEC Freshmen of the Week – Florida’s Kendra Falby, an outfielder from Odessa, Fla., batted .550 with 11 hits (including a double and two triples) and three RBI in a 6-0 week for the Gators. Falby went 6-for-6 on stolen bases throughout the week, the second long streak for stolen bases in program history. Her pair of triples has her tied her for seventh place among UF freshman for triples in a single season.
