SEC Softball Weekly Honors Week- 5
SEC Player of the Week – Arkansas’ Hannah Gammill, a sophomore third baseman from Beebe, Ark., batted 1.000 over three games with six hits, eight runs scored and seven RBI. Gammill also recorded a 2.667 slugging percentage, a 1.000 on-base percentage and 16 total bases. She registered two home runs in the win over Maryland in the JMU Dukes Invitational, a single-game career high.
SEC Co-Pitchers of the Week – Arkansas’ Mary Haff, a senior right-hander from Winter Haven, Fla., recorded the first solo perfect game in school history in the win over Maryland in the JMU Dukes Invitational. Haff tallied a season-high 14 strikeouts against the Terrapins. She also pitched two innings and earned the win over Liberty. For the week, Haff struck out 18 and walked zero batters.
Mississippi State’s Annie Willis, a graduate right-hander from Huntsville, Ala., led her team to its first win over a top-five team since 2019 with a complete-game shutout at No. 4 Florida. The win was also MSU’s first shutout against Florida since 2005. Willis struck out a season-high nine batters.
SEC Freshman of the Week – LSU’s Raelin Chaffin, a right-handed pitcher from Bossier City, La., earned the win in the second game of the conference opening series against No. 2 Alabama. Chaffin retired 21 of the 22 batters, including five strikeouts, and held her opponent to a .045 batting average in the complete-game outing.
