Pitt Softball Falls in First Home Game of Season

On a beaautiful Summer like 68 degrees Wednesday night at Pitt’s Vartabedian Field the Panthers went up against in-state rival Penn State coming out on the short end of the 6-0 final score.

Even though Penn State ace Bailey Parshall was pitching a no-hitter into late innings of the game Pitt was still hanging tough down only by a score of 3-0 going into the 6th inning but then the wheels came off with Penn State adding three more runs on the scoreboard winning the game 6-0.

Pitt junior Taegen Lewellen and senior Yvonne Whaley had the only two hits allowed by Penn State’s Parshall who got the full game win. While Pitt redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller took the loss in the circle.

Pitt will be back in action Friday, Mar. 18th when it takes on Notre Dame for the first of three games. Friday’s game begins at 6 p.m. with live coverage on the ACCNX
