The Georgia Bulldogs broke the program single-season home run record Saturday at Jack Turner Stadium in a 10-8 loss to Ole Miss. Sophomore Jayda Kearney’s seventh inning grand slam was the 100th home run of the season for the Georgia Bulldogs, breaking the previous record of 99 set in 2010. Georgia becomes the first SEC team to hit 100 home runs in a season since Tennessee in 2015.

Ole Miss news, Tate Whitley tallied a career-high four hits in the teams 10-8 victory over Georgia. She became only the fourth Rebel ever to reach the 70-hit mark in a single season, joining Elantra Cox (93 in 2017), Kylan Becker (84 in 2019 and 74 in 2017) and Hailey Lunderman (76 in 2016).

In what was a painful game to watch Baylor handed Texas their worse lot ever 17-3 on a 95-degree Saturday afternoon in front of 1,505 fans at Red & Charline McCombs Field, there for Senior Day.The top of the 7th inning took over 30 minutes for Texas to get the three Baylor outs. In one of the few bright spots for Texas on the day was when senior second baseman Janae Jefferson managed her 48th & 49th doubles to break the Texas career doubles record formerly held by Jodi Reeves and Kaitlyn Washington.

Penn State split their doubleheader at Illinois Saturday to reach the 30-win mark on the season for the first time since 2016 with the 2-0 victory in game 2. It also marked the 12th Big Ten win of the year, which is tied for third most in program history. Bailey Parshall picked up her 20th win of the season to become the third pitcher in Penn State history to accomplish it.

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns roll on once again securing the Sun Belt Regular Season Title. It’s their third consecutive Sun Belt championship and 18th overall in 21 seasons of completed play. Louisiana’s nation-leading total of consecutive conference series wins is now 73 straight (dates back to March 2013). Louisiana has also reached the 40-win mark for the 23rd consecutive completed season.

Tennessee softball took both games of a Saturday doubleheader against Auburn to secure a top-4 seed and a double-bye to the SEC Tournament quarterfinals next week in Gainesville, Florida. The Lady Vols topped the Tigers 5-2 in game one before rounding the DH with a 7-4 victory featuring four home runs. The two wins secured UT’s fifth SEC series victory of the 2022 campaign. Right-handed pitcher Ashley Rogers after being recognized for her senior day prior to first pitch threw a complete game to open the twin bill with a two-run, four-hit outing against the Tigers. Rogers performed really well today which is good news for the Lady Vols in the upcoming playoffs.
