Texas head softball coach Mike White officially announced the signing of Arizona State right-handed pitching transfer Mac Morgan
(Sophomore/RHP/Creighton, Mo./Arizona State/Sherwood H.S.) to join the Longhorns program for the 2022-23 academic year.
Mac Morgan:
Position/Class: RHP/Sophomore
Hometown: Creighton, Mo.
Previous College: Arizona State
High School: Sherwood H.S.
A rising sophomore pitcher out of Arizona State, Morgan ventures to Texas after helping the 2022 Sun Devils to a 43-11 overall record, an outright Pac-12 Conference championship and a berth in NCAA Super Regionals. The third-team All-Pac-12 Conference and All-Freshman Team selection registered a 2.82 ERA with an 18-3 overall record (22 starts), seven complete games, two solo shutouts and 75 strikeouts over a team-high 119 innings of work while limiting opponents to a .248 batting average. During her initial collegiate campaign, Morgan picked up high-profile wins over Texas A&M, BYU, Texas, Oregon State (two), Arizona, Oregon, Utah, California, Washington, Cal State Fullerton and San Diego State. The Creighton, Mo., native allowed just two hits to Texas A&M over 5.0 scoreless innings of work, permitted two runs on three hits over 6.2 frames during a 5-2 win over Washington, tossed a complete game in a 5-3 triumph over eventual WCWS qualifier Oregon State and struck out a career-high nine during a NCAA Tempe Regional win over Cal State Fullerton. The Longhorns got an up-close look at Morgan’s ability at the Texas Classic in Austin back on Feb. 25 as the 5-8 right-hander scattered four hits, walked one and struck out three over 6.0 shutout innings as Arizona State blanked Texas, 2-0.
